Andrew Srebnik maintains a steadfast dedication to community service and helping make the world a better place. An active participant in Rock and Wrap It Up, Andrew Srebnik works with rock musicians, professional athletes, hotels, schools, and federal agencies to recycle unused food and give it to homeless individuals. Andrew Srebnik's efforts allow anti-poverty agencies to spend more time providing education and job placement programs for people in need. Having family members who died in and survived the Holocaust, Andrew Srebnik commits time and energy to the DNA Shoah Project, a program that aims to reunite families and individuals displaced by the concentration camps of World War II. Andrew Srebnik and his family received featured media coverage on PBS for their participation in the DNA Shoah Project. Through Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, Andrew Srebnik's generous donation helped to assist the over 250,000 seriously ill children in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut region. Starlight Starbright brings creative and fun activities to sick children, helping them feel more like "normal kids." Andrew Srebnik's contribution was dispersed throughout 77 area hospitals and funded a variety of programs. Andrew Srebnik also donated to The Melissa Institute, a nonprofit organization devoted to violence prevention. Named for Melissa Aptman, a St. Louis, Missouri, college student murdered in 1995, the Melissa Institute concentrates on education and training programs to increase awareness of and action countering violence in the community. Contributions from Andrew Srebnik and others create scholarships, support research, and bring in leaders of various disciplines to confront the ongoing issues surrounding violent crime prevention. Losing childhood friend and colleague, Fred Gabler, in the September 11th terrorist attacks on New York City, Andrew Srebnik came together with several mutual friends for "Freddy's Song." Andrew Srebnik, among others, supported a friend who wrote and recorded "Freddy's Song" to benefit Gabler's daughter, born shortly after his death. In addition to these charitable causes, Andrew Srebnik ensures the proper funding of academic institutions. The University of Tennessee claims both Andrew Srebnik and his father, Charles, as members of the Benefactors Society.
