Ms. Ava Dorrance possesses over 20 years of professional social work experience. Most recently, Ava Dorrance served as a Psychiatric Social Worker at Cass County Community Hospital. In this role, Ava Dorrance provided therapy to individuals, groups, and families. Specializing in working with children, Ava Dorrance developed a full-day program for behaviorally disordered children. Additionally, Ava Dorrance served as a counselor for Atlantic schools. Today, Ava Dorrance devotes her energies to caring for her parents.

Prior to her role with Cass County Community Hospital, Ava Dorrance served as a Psychiatric Social Worker Therapist with the Psychology Associates Genesis Health System. Implementing a number of changes designed for the improvement of the system, Ava Dorrance developed, staffed, and maintained a full-time practice within the community in addition to providing invaluable support to the system’s main branch. Throughout her professional career, Ava Dorrance held roles as a Psychiatric Social Worker for Robert Young Mental Health Center, a Mental Health Consultant for the State of Iowa Department of Human Services, and a Coordinator of the Eating Disorder Program for the Covenant Medical Center.

Ava Dorrance matriculated at the University of Iowa, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Art and Museum Science. Ava Dorrance later returned to her alma mater to obtain her Master of Social Work. In her limited spare time, Ava Dorrance enjoys a variety of hobbies, including watching movies, reading, hiking, traveling, and writing. Ava Dorrance also maintains an active role within her community, where she is involved in several charitable endeavors. A

    Responsibilities include record keeping, continued education in the coaching field and ethical practices utilized in the process, goal setting and guidance, scheduling weekly phone sessions.

    I have been working from my home since 2005 while caring for my elderly parents and managing our family owned farm business.

    Balancing these roles has been a both challenge, but overall a rewarding experience.
