I would say that this is probably one of the top 5 if not top 3 thermal coffee maker options available. If you are after a thermal machine then I couldn't recommend many better machines. The fact that it is a Bunn alone should be enough to convince most people of the products this unit. Bunn have a long reputation of making coffee makers that last. I have read reviews on the web of users having their machines for over 20 years. Now that is a coffee maker that lasts.

The thermal carafe on this machine is really standard, you should get approximately 5 hours or so of heat before the coffee becomes anything like lukewarm. Of course you will always see better results from your thermal carafe or thermos if you warm the carafe with hot water before using it. I would say the only real negative about this and all thermal carafes is the slowed pour rate, although I wouldn't be so picky as to say this takes away from the rest of the brilliant features but it is worth mentioning.

You can choose to use either the paper filters or a gold basket filter in your case filtering needs. Which you use is a matter of personal preference, if you prefer you coffee strong then I would recommend with the mesh reusable filter. If you prefer the cleaning process to be a simple as dumping the filter in the trash and don't mind choosing new filters from the store every week, then paper filters are for your needs.
