If you are a singer like I am you have probably wished you could slow down a recording you heard so that it could be easier to sing along to. I certainly have. It turns out there is software that can actually do it! One such program is called “Pitch Switch”, but don’t let the name fool you, it can slow down MP3s, WAVs and M4A files from iTunes. It costs only $40 and you can use it on an unlimited number of tracks. Using it is easy, you just load your audio file and drag the tempo slider to speed it up and slow it down. Pitch Switch won’t change the tone which is amazing! Pitch Switch provides the speed (tempo) in the bottom right hand corner of the program window.

Pitch Switch can do more than just slow down your MP3s. It can adjust the key of your songs too. You can raise and lower the key of your MP3 files by one semitone at a time. It’s really cool because you can change the key as the song is playing back.
The next thing I should say is that you can also save your modified songs. Once you slow down an MP3 (or change the pitch) you can write it as a new file and transfer it on your iPod. I’ve found this program to be extremely useful and I strongly recommend you try it too. There is a free trial for download on their website at pitch-switch.com.
