When you work from your home and have several devices to connect to a router you need the best one. You may have several computers, printers, along with other things that have to be connected. The Netgear N750 (WNDR4000) is a great buy but if you spend the extra cash, you could be better off with the Netgear N900 (WNDR4500). You'll be able to purchase this router up and running within 5 minutes.

All you need to do is link the cable and power, and hook up a computer straight to the Netgear router, to obtain the setup information. There isn't any CD-ROM to do a set up, instead you connect to a webpage through your web browser. You only need to type routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in the address field of the web browser and when you hit enter, it takes you to the Netgear Genie program. You will have to set up the basics of your network and you can change the advanced features also. You can link printers and hard disk drives to your network because of the two USB ports, and it has DLNA functionality. The menu of the Genie is quite basic and it is going to let you know of any status changes. You can easily check to see if everything is properly attached to the router.

The router is much larger than the majority of routers, and it has a clear base that is attached so that it's always standing. Despite having Ethernet cables hooked up, the router with the base is firm enough to not tip over. While the router is somewhat on the high end, it is well worth the money spent. It works great for HD streaming or gaming, and for a lot of tasks, it can be networking overkill. It sends out a very powerful signal so you should be able to connect easily in practically every place in your home. One of the reviewers uses the router each day for hours on end, with several laptops, tablets, kindles, 2 PS3's and a printer attached. He has downloaded software program, ebooks, big work related files and seen videos without any dropped connections. He was quite happy with his routers, in spite of other people having a few problems.

Yet another reviewer had much the same experience, and said that this was his new favorite router after testing it out intensively. He was able to hook up 11 gadgets over WiFi with virtually no random restarts or dropped connections. There is certainly expectation that the firmware updates is going to enhance the quality of the router.

Though the Netgear N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR4500) is more expensive than other routers, it is the best of breed. If you want something that can handle plenty of network gizmos, then this router is for you. Do your homework to see if your network would need something as effective as the Netgear N900.
