Bathroom lighting

Low voltage LEDs are ideal for use within a bathroom environment. Because many of the transformers or LED drivers are water resistant they are suitable for this application. LED tape is achievable in waterproof versions. Waterproofing is often identified by an IP rating, the IP rating is normally identified by numbers. IP65 is a waterproof rating that allows contact with water whereas an IP68 rating would allow full submersion upto a certain depth. LED tape comes in both versions.

Kitchen lighting

More and more LEDs are being used to create mood within kitchens because of the sleek and easy to install design. In most circumstances the use of LED Tape is inside a pelmet, lower kick board or within a cupboard to brighten up the contents. Innovative design options has led to the adoption of this new technology introducing never seen before styles to kitchen schemes often adding value to the concept. IP rated waterproof LED tape is generally used because the shield coating makes scrubbing up easier and protects against fluids damaging the light emitting diodes.

Using warm white light is ideal when decoration includes golds, browns, creams and earthy colours. Using neutral white will add a certain sparkle to more vivid colours of decoration whereby the target colour is intended to be expressed such as reds, blues and whites. Neutral white looks amazing illuminating pearl tiles in en-suites.

Exterior lighting

Waterproof or IP rated LED tape could be used under brick capping to create illumination around garden features like walls. It can also be integrated near fountains, under roofing canopies or used in exterior barbecue areas. Using LED as a light source offers many advantages especially in external applications whereas harsh conditions can be destructive. Due to the minimal maintenance and the overall benefits of LEDs they give designers and architects incentive to use lighting in harder to reach places and in contrast areas that are used day to day by the general public where lower voltage, cooler operating solutions are required.
