Jeremy Aguayo

A talented and loyal law enforcement officer, Jeremy Aguayo has acquired numerous awards and special recognitions over more than a decade of service to two police forces.



Currently a student at Nova Southeastern University in South Florida, Jeremy Aguayo most recently worked as a Police Detective with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department after holding numerous positions with the Detroit Police Department.



While serving on the Detroit police force for nearly eight years, Jeremy Aguayo held the positions of crisis negotiator, undercover operative, detention officer, traffic enforcement, and media relations liaison. Jeremy Aguayo was largely responsible for maintaining cooperative relationships with the local media outlets and responding to public and media inquiries. During his time with the Department, Aguayo garnered multiple achievements, including several letters of commendation for his service to the city of Detroit.



Praised for his quick thinking and dauntless actions, Jeremy Aguayo was given a Meritorious Achievement Award in 2003 for arresting a bank robber responsible for a string of Metro Detroit bank robberies. The following year, Officer Aguayo apprehended an armed assailant wanted for murder, receiving yet another Meritorious Achievement Award for the act. During his career Jeremy Aguayo Officer was recognized as the Officer of the Quarter, a recognition that is only given to one Officer every three months.



In 2006, Jeremy Aguayo joined the Fort Lauderdale Police Department as a Criminal Investigations Detective. With the FLPD, Aguayo undertook investigations, conducted criminal interrogations, and prepared criminal cases for prosecution. During his first year with the department, Aguayo received a letter of commendation for his capture of an armed robbery suspect. In 2008, Detective Jeremy Aguayo was later praised by the department for his investigation of an individual who was ultimately charged with over 20 counts of burglary. In another instance, Fort Lauderdale Mayor, Jim Naugle, personally wrote a letter of appreciation to Aguayo for the detective's efforts in another burglary case.



In addition to his service career, Jeremy Aguayo is the holder of an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Aguayo graduated cum laude from the school with a 3.55 GPA while serving with the Detroit Police Department. Jeremy Aguayo is expected to graduate from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies in June 2010.
