A cable television executive in Bogota, Colombia, Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo has spent more than 15 years in the industry. Currently he serves as President of Cable Pacifico, which established a fiber optic network in the Northeastern part of the country. Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo has melded his expertise in content distribution and creation. He owns several cable channels, including Cable Noticias, and understands the process of developing engaging programming.
Under Juan Gonzalo Angel Restrepo’s leadership, Cable Noticias have achieved extensive market penetration. In Colombia, for example, 90 percent of the market utilizes Cable Noticias’ services. In addition, the 24-hour Colombia-based news channel, which he founded, broadcasts to 15 Spanish-speaking nations and the United States. Mr. Restrepo appreciates the need for impartial news, as opposed to opinion-oriented programming. He encourages journalists to analyze current events and look for trends. He notes that the channel has since expanded its programming to feature a variety of analyses from different news professionals. Within one year of going on air, Cable Noticias acquired 5 million viewers.
Mr. Restrepo earned his Master of Business Administration from a European university. He completed his undergraduate work in engineering at the Universidad Nacional in Medellin, Colombia. As a student athlete, he participated in skiing.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing video games, traveling, and scuba diving.
