The recipient of numerous honors, awards, and critical acclaim over the course of her career, writer and director Laurel Hunter has earned her place in the independent art world. Beginning with her work as an actress, director, and writer of stage plays across the U.S. and Canada, Laurel Hunter has collaborated with such significant theater auteurs as J.P. Allen and Bill Smartt. After performing in roles in several plays in the Denver, Colorado region, including Agnes in Agnes of God, Lunatic in Anyone Can Whistle, and Daisy in The Adding Machine (for which she gained favorable recognition), Laurel Hunter relocated to Los Angeles and studied acting with Frank Condon of the renowned Odyssey Theater Ensemble. Laurel Hunter went on to enjoy additional opportunities in acting and directing plays on a national scale. Both the LA Weekly and the Los Angeles Times praised Laurel Hunter for her direction of Gambling at the Victory Theater in Burbank, California, and along with Bill Smartt, she developed the play, Aunt Jack, which ran for multiple performances at the Theatre Rhino in San Francisco and off-off-Broadway 78th Street Theatre in New York City.Her stage plays have garnered Highsmith and Lawrence and Lee Playwriting Awards.
