Air pollution has been getting a lot of the attention but soil pollution is also a serious problem. While many folks are not informed regarding soil pollution, it is something that we must be worried about. It is not as obvious as air pollution since it occurs under ground. Contaminated water could seep into the soil making the soil impure. If this happens, plants will not grow properly at all and you might not get any flowers or fruit production. A lot of the food we actually eat today has been impacted by soil pollution, and is not as healthy as it once was. Air pollution cannot greatly improve as the plants can't extract the carbon monoxide in the air as a result of soil pollution. The majority of soil pollution has come about due to the neglect or mistakes of humans. Chemicals get into the soil from a variety of sources, including landfills. In the past garbage from corporations and individuals was dumped in landfills, that did little or no to preserve the land. With rainwater or snow, the water could flush any number of chemicals into the soil. The chemicals spread by falling into underground rivers that take the chemicals to a variety of places. Today, lots of modern landfills are designed to prevent chemicals from leaking into the ground and reducing certain garbage from being dumped there.

Another problem is the use of pesticides on crops and gardens. A number of environmental associations are lobbying the government to safeguard the soil from hazardous chemicals. But recently, lots of farmers are going organic and government has imposed stringent guidelines for specific pesticides. Many producers are looking to change by doing things including making use of biodegradable materials in their products. The United States has the most serious soil pollution trouble in the world. Improvements in technological innovations and disregard for the environment are the reasons of the polluted soil.

More and more people are being aware of soil pollution and are making efforts to lessen it. There are lots of programs being implemented in the country in order to make the problem better by reducing soil pollution. As individuals begin to do more organic gardening and are being more health conscious, there is a great chance that the problem with pollution in our soil can be solved.
