Nick Utton has held executive marketing positions at international, highly-regarded companies such as Revlon, MasterCard, JP Morgan Chase, and currently serves as the Chief Marketing Officer at E*Trade.
In 1979, Nicholas Utton received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in business administration and marketing from the University of Natal, located in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Nick Utton followed up this degree with a graduate degree in Commerce, which he received with Honors in 1982 from the University of South Africa. After completing his studies, Nicholas Utton remained in academic circles, completing a three-year part-time lectureship at the University of Pretoria's Damelin Management for marketing and business management courses.
Early in his career, Nick Utton worked his way up from an associate product manager position with Unilever to eventual project manager positions at Richardson Vicks and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. From 1990 to 1993, Nick Utton worked as marketing director at Cadbury Schweppes, leading to his executive market positions at first Revlon, then MasterCard, immediately followed by the position of Chief Marketing Officer at both NewPower Company and JP Morgan Chase.
Today, Nick Utton is Chief Marketing Officer at E*Trade. Under his direction, the company has recently teamed with Grey New York as its primary advertising agency. E*Trade's selection of Grey New York as its advertising agency of record has led to considerable gains for Nick Utton's marketing success rate. Nick Utton chose to amplify E*Trade's visibility with Super Bowl advertisements and Google ad campaigns in his ongoing effort to demonstrate the company's commitment to their customers and core retail business. The 2008 Super Bowl advertising campaign for E-Trade was designed to "tap into the human aspect of trading, investing, and saving-incorporating humor and simplicity while showcasing E*Trade's offerings as a premier financial services provider," said Grey New York's Chief Creative Officer Tor Myhren.
