Free wifi is a very variable data.

In Paris like everywhere else, sometimes you have to pay, sometimes not.Why should we have to pay for free wifi? Well little everything has a value, and each one needs money to work and be long-lasting.

Big issues on Internet Wonderful Wild World: audience, fair price and break-even point.

Which solution, if not invoicing (or not invoicing enough): advertising? If not then it’s changing your model into BtoB one.

There must be another way. I haven’t create this proverb (seems I’ve already noticed it somewhere, but where…), but I know many people working on that topic.

In the meantime, if you’re on Paris and don’t want to pay any fee for Internet (Internet is a free world I’ve heard), just click there to have your free wifi access in some coffee place!

Attentiveness - Lesson 2The raccoon says: “consequences of smoking are detailed in some medical books, but this method is not to me as efficient as it could be…Each cigarette takes you 10 minutes of your life…not a better thing to tell, because this means nothing”.The raccoon is tired today and hope he’ll give better advice tomorrow…Difficult to imagine helping people with threats… Neither consider they’re stupid! 

One of the reason why I love Seesmic: micro blogging video is improvisation, creativity but mainly something in French we call: “le rebond”. Your inspiration make other people inspired, that’s a real community effect. And that’s fun too!

One of the last discussion I had on this topic was with a big raccoon specialist I have been very happy to meet thanks to a video application that starts to grow (world is small we all know that). Take the opportunity to wish him all possible success and happiness in his new home in his new town in his new country in his new life (stop).

In France, starting tomorrow January 1st 2008, a law has to be applied preventing people to smoke in EVERY PUBLIC places…including restaurant, bars and so on…Admiting to get free from this bad smell in restaurant when you eat for example is easy to say…but stopping smoking is not that easy, to be honest!Nevertheless I stopped on October 10th in 1999, with method and will never start again. Ok, I smoke one cigare sometimes, but in specific context. And no chance I start again to smoke cigarettes.But it’s so clear why you must stop when you have stopped. The problem is that you try to stop to consume a drug…and this is a hard war!I’ve been helped by a book (sorry only in French…).Another solution could be (hope that could be funny) the Magic Box I bought some months ago which is named: “40 Strategies to Stop Smoking”. 40 cards inside with a solution (or a potential one).To drive my audience up here , I propose to post one card every day with the following contract : I can forget or I can stop, that’s my blog to be then after all cleared from this bad use.You bet? I don’t but let’s try

Come and play: 30 titles to find, just after usual Midnight closing year kisses for French people…C’mon!!! 

For many reasons, video is becoming a hot topic for me that I look after more than ever.

First, as having worked in mobile for about 3 years, I am convinced that this content is to be the one of the king of mobile applications… when carriers or other any MISP (Mobile Internet Service Provider) will propose a real and transparent data fee offer, for sure we’ll get the confirmation… It’s so easy to take a video with your mobile and play with it! The experience of SeeMeTV with 3 UK,  the Eyeka experience, the battle of TV companies out of carrier’s gardens are evidence of this potential success.

Second, whatever the experience lots of people claim, discussions around future of TV,  copyrights, business models question-marks, decreasing advertising dominance on TV recommendations, etc., all this looks like music industry: where are we going? When skepticism sounds more than interest on specialists mouths regarding new platforms and formats or any kind of initiatives, then that means we have to listen more. Definitely video on web leads to Revolution for TV.

Thirdly, in terms of technics there is surely things to do, quality (pixels, sounds) is so poor in many case! So surely there are nice discussions to have around this. I have been recently very enthusiastic regarding new Le Meur’s project, Seesmic, for having proposed such a simple application to play with! Having the possibility to communicate in few minutes with anybody on the globe, on this micro-blogging format, very interesting. This gave me ideas in some improvisations and nice fun with Seesmic aficionados…

After some late challenge with a crazy Seesmiker and a gentleman Blogger giving echo to LLM himself, I went through the pbwiki to create the page for a coming event: SeesmicCamp! Who knows Barcamp rules obviously knows we don’t play with this. Oh no! And I know it And as I have not any specific interest is being exclusive, after a very positive CantineCamp to ‘close the deal’ the day after, VideoCamp was open. Glad to have Mathieu on board, interested to be involved, representing Les Explorateurs du Web.

First  thing to do is find the location, and there are yet some nice ideas.For sponsoring we will initiate new rules started in Barcamp wiki… Youtube, Dailymotion, Joost, vPod, Eyeka, MoobTV, Mobibase, Moblr, Seesmic, etc…you are all welcome! Stay tuned anyway…

Seems Twitter was in trouble yesterday. This is obvious that this simple web application is growing (like the natural increasing numbers of following and followers for me), and not only because of the visibility given during LeWeb3, maybe their servers crashed!

Twitter became to me like the third web screen…as for many people and for some reasons:

-Keep in touch effect: an interesting network is an active network, Twitter is a perfect solution for that necessity

-What’s new: more and more companies are using Twitter as a PR place, and some online magazines or even French newpapers give some news regularly there

-Voyeurism: we all have a part more or less important inside of us…only liars will not recognize this. This gives a very interesting socialogic and sometimes psychiatric analysis of VIP (Very IT People) with demonstrations of highest knowledge and intelligence, usually practiced in some dark room in private club with some whiskey and good cigars

-Audience: this is more or less linked to the previous…Twitter becomes a place to attract people on your own blog as you cannot recognize what’s the proposed web site unless you click on it. That’s a growing practice, and your followers are supposed to be your friends…but about the “What are you doing” concept, the contract is to evoluate a little bit! No problem, we do not pay so why not

-Business: not usual blablas about business model, not the topic (a full post to dicuss this). There are many excited followers to imagine and work on parallel applications to have their time for celebrity, there are so many focus on the moment on Twitter. In some situations the idea can be very interesting and additional like Seesmic (not the same format but same practice) or like something simple but smart developped by a friend of mine.

I obstinately use Twitter to communicate, which is absolutely not to expect from this Wonderfull Web World…but addict I am now, this is a very good example of what web is and provides at the moment.

…and beers… 

Music is a very difficult industry. Everywhere, in the US, in Europe. So in France which is my example right now… 

At first level, artists meet serious difficulties to access to their adequate position in celebrity…and income! Great musicians are forced to accept sometimes unfair contracts just to play in some bars as well as they serve some of their so-called colleagues who have a name…but not real music talent. Sometimes.

Being an artist in music is a hard job. I don’t mean to create music, lyrics and make both nice all together (this is a gift from Mother Nature). I mean having in hands a finished product all musicians dream of: a CD with some tracks on it. Find the right musicians, have the magic happening when they all play together, transmit them your message, record, have the mood you look after, find the studio also, get the producer you need for mixing this all clear. And only a few of have the capacity to play with Pro Tools at home…and it’s not particularly a matter of money!

So now what about distribution…many of talentuous guys will never find the time to get to this kind of matter. MyMajorCompany is maybe a new alternative in this second level of music industry, to help artists in being distributed: make people, I mean you and I become the producer of an artist. You can make decisions with them on how to promote the album. And get 30% of RS of their revenue once it’s made…and sold.

The website is well designed, launched couple of days ago. Today you can see one person who has already given 1K€. Top artists, news, blog…  The MyMajorCompany management team knows the business and they are nice so I wish them good luck!

While browsing I liked Eye Jack Group you can see above. Definitely not the one pushed on the home page, but I am not a significant guy for this French version…surely more the english one to come! 

Many questions like:

-How many people to push the first artist at 70K€, minimum amount requested? When?

- Involvement of so called producers in distribution and marketing?

-To be pragmatic, how the full process works for real? Well join and see…I am registered as ‘producer’, best way to see from the inside. If I find a group to sing with then I will be on both side

Partnership announced from today:

-Dailymotion that is understandable for the video deal we can see

-Spreadshirt which is an on-line  clothing website. Why not…

-Noumba is the social network partner, a microblogging platform (web & mobile, mobile!), to chat inside MMC… Partnerships not closed…Raphael

Videogame is definitely a pure industry, part of its history now, with mergers, chasing IPs, discussing margin rates with channel of distribution, console competition and so on.But as would say a former guy I saw not a long time ago, where is emotion?Could someone save Atari? Where is this Captain?Atari is the videogame story. 

Sad world…no possibility to tell people what I’m doing…no Seesmic post link…don’t know where my good friends are…no geek announcement…nothing…all alone…Hard to get used to useless stuff…when it’s gone you obstinately try to see if it’s back. Nature abhors a vacuum. 

For geek only…I’ve bought 4…for Monday…the same for Tuesday very soon…

This is the price for 6 to 7 square meters in London, Earls Court… The last time I came in London, cost me 80€, closed to Hammersmith, with a very unpleasant Russian woman for my breakfast…We are getting so many informations, there is surely a Web 3.0 thing to launch that would manage a portal solution to give you helpful informations around your current activities. Gloups, too late, I revealed the topic of my next company…

I think one day we will find many initiatives like this, to provide a real a full service by a company to its users & customers, whatever the carrier (it’s not the point here).  New era? Let’s test it to see how it works.Any feedback would be highly appreciated :)
