Please read this link it provides a very insightful look into the real problems the military and specifiably the US Army faces today.

I am not sure exactly where this line is drawn now or even where it needs to be drawn in the future, but it appears it needs to move in some direction away from where it is now. The Generals have to become accountable for the advise the give to the US Civilian Leadership and not just blindly allow the real needs of battle to be push aside for political reason when the truth will save a lot of solders lives. It appears this has been allow to happen recently and needs to stop. Our young men and women are dying on foreign soil and their military leaders ( the Generals who advise the President ) are not being honest with the President and Sec. of Defense on the real needs of our troop, to do the job being asked of them by their US Civilian Leaders. This travesty of the military leadership can not be allowed to continue or and can not be allowed to continue by only promoting the people that get along well with the upper leadership but who really do not understand the issues needed to win the wars we are currently and or are likely to fight in the future. We have lost the Right of Habeus Corpus. This happened in the so called Patriot Act.
This right gives anyone who is arrested the ability to demand that a judge look at the reason they were arrested and held and decide if the state has any legal reason to continue to hold the individual.

This right was held absolutely necessary by our founding fathers because they had seen individuals being held indefinitely by European governments and never being able to challenge their arrest and captivity. All the president has to do is declare you an enemy combatant and you can be held forever with out the right to challenge your arrest. This is not just for foreigners found in war zones; this is for anyone anywhere in the world including any American citizen.

Now the president has issued an executive order that allows anyone who the Department of the Treasury decides might someday somehow threaten the safety of the Republic of Iraq's security to have their assets seized, without the right to go to court and fight this seizure. To me that sounds like anyone who protests against the war in Iraq and demands the end of the war might me declared someone who threatens the Republic of Iraq's safety and have their assets seized by the government without review by anyone. including the federal supreme court.

Imagine for a moment a peaceful protest against the war in Iraq, and some idiot gets mad and throws a rock at a policeman, now if the presidents executive order comes into play then it seems to me that everyone at the protest can be arrested and placed in a prison without the right to an attorney and has all their assets seized. Is this the kind of America you want? OK so you say I am some kind of pink o commie left wing nutcase, imagine that after the next presidential election a Democrat is elected president and just maybe it is Hillary do you want Hillary or any other president other than George W. Bush to have the right to do this?

I understand that some of you maybe on the right of the political spectrum and that you may absolutely trust George W. Bush to do the right and honorable thing in this situation, can you say for certain that the next president you will be able to say the same thing about? This is much more than about George W. Bush although I have to admit he frightens me to death. Even discounting my lefty leanings are you willing to give the next guy or gal in the White House the ability that George W. Bush is giving himself and every other American president to come?

This appears to me to be a very dangerous situation and every American citizen needs to at the very least be aware of what is happening and decide for themselves if this is what they want to happen in the United States of America. If you think that this is not necessary and needs to be changed then you have but one choice; to contact your congressman and House Representative and let them know how you feel. I believe that every American citizen of voting age needs to look into this seriously and decide for themselves and then let their elected representatives in Washington DC what they think and they need to do it right now without delay.

Please I beg of you tell anyone and everyone you know to check this situation out and let your representative in congress in Washington DC know right away one way or another what you think about this very important development. We are not at war against the Russians or the Chinese, so why are we building up our military to fight them, when in reality we are fighting in third world countries and not equipping our military for these type wars. I am not against high tech weapons, but we have to consider the real facts we are fighting a hand to hand war and our troops are not properly equipped. I would like to propose a new idea. Any time our government wants to start a war, the members of the house, senate, and white house who want to go to war, have to send their children immedately to the front line of the war. Then after 120 days later if these members of government still want to continue the war we will send the publics kids over to help. I bet the supply problems would not exist for those children of politicians that exist today, three years into the war! Their children are not going over there in great numbers and then only if they Volunteer. So if would appear the leadership of the House of Representatives (Republican's) knew about this mans indiscretion for almost a year. A homosexual pedophile was allowed to stay in the House of Representives because the Republican house leaders were more concerned about their Republican majority than doing the right thing. It makes me feel so much safer knowing that the religious right controls our country! That the religious right has elected such God fearing Men who live such god fearing and godly lives and that they represent the values of the religious right, how lucky we are! We need more politicians like the House of Representative leadership!

These are the are the same republican leaders who have been caught up in the bribery scandals over the last few years. These are the same men who are against raising the minimum wage for the last 10 years but who have raised their own wages by several thousands of dollars in the last 10 years. These are the same men who believe it is better for our young American warriors to die in foreign lands, simply because so many have died already. That it doesn't matter if the reasons for original reasons for the war were lies, or that the seceding reasons were lies too. Now we have to stay the course because so many American warriors have died. We have to honor their memory by continuing to fighting a war that was started by lies and false representations.

What about honoring the truth and if we did something for a illegitimate reason, that no amount of rationalizations or reasons makes it right now! There is no honor in killing for dishonest reasons. There is no honor in continuing a war which was ill conceived and even more so ill fought. Our own generals say we can't win it, our own intelligence agencies are saying by staying we are causing more terrorist to hate us. We are making the Moslems hate us and causing them to want to commit more terrorists acts against us so how is this fighting terrorism?

When you say one thing, but do another, it is called hypocrisy. Isn't it time that the American people finally woke up and recognized the hypocrisy in our governments leaders? We are doing the wrong things and for the wrong reasons, and justifying it because we are already doing it? Does that really make any sense to you?

When you start out doing something based on a lie, what rationalizations are ever going to make it right to continue? When by doing so you cause more harm, than what originals caused the problem in the first place? Before we attacked Iraq and Afghanistan only a very few really radical Islamic groups were against us, now we have turned most of the Islamic world against us and have created even more willing individuals to commit terrorist acts against us.

How can you fight a war agents something, when by the shear act of fight it, you are causing more of it. Usually when you fight something you want to cause it to stop attacking you, not cause even more of it to happen. We are being lied to, we are not fighting terrorism, we are causing even more of it to happen in the future.
