To me this looks like a White House that is out of control.
The president does not care what the American public wants, he thinks that he is the sole decider of what happens in the USA. I say he works for us and has to respect our wishes.

Please read the information below and decide for yourself if I am being a alarmist or a realist.

We have lost the Right of Habeus Corpus. This happened in the so called Patriot Act.
This right gives anyone who is arrested the ability to demand that a judge look at the reason they were arrested and held and decide if the state has any legal reason to continue to hold the individual.

This right was held absolutely necessary by our founding fathers because they had seen individuals being held indefinitely by European governments and never being able to challenge their arrest and captivity. All the president has to do is declare you an enemy combatant and you can be held forever with out the right to challenge your arrest. This is not just for foreigners found in war zones; this is for anyone anywhere in the world including any American citizen.

Now the president has issued an executive order that allows anyone who the Department of the Treasury decides might someday somehow threaten the safety of the Republic of Iraq's security to have their assets seized, without the right to go to court and fight this seizure. To me that sounds like anyone who protests against the war in Iraq and demands the end of the war might me declared someone who threatens the Republic of Iraq's safety and have their assets seized by the government without review by anyone. including the federal supreme court.

Imagine for a moment a peaceful protest against the war in Iraq, and some idiot gets mad and throws a rock at a policeman, now if the presidents executive order comes into play then it seems to me that everyone at the protest can be arrested and placed in a prison without the right to an attorney and has all their assets seized. Is this the kind of America you want? OK so you say I am some kind of pink o commie left wing nutcase, imagine that after the next presidential election a Democrat is elected president and just maybe it is Hillary do you want Hillary or any other president other than George W. Bush to have the right to do this?

I understand that some of you maybe on the right of the political spectrum and that you may absolutely trust George W. Bush to do the right and honorable thing in this situation, can you say for certain that the next president you will be able to say the same thing about? This is much more than about George W. Bush although I have to admit he frightens me to death. Even discounting my lefty leanings are you willing to give the next guy or gal in the White House the ability that George W. Bush is giving himself and every other American president to come?

This appears to me to be a very dangerous situation and every American citizen needs to at the very least be aware of what is happening and decide for themselves if this is what they want to happen in the United States of America. If you think that this is not necessary and needs to be changed then you have but one choice; to contact your congressman and House Representative and let them know how you feel. I believe that every American citizen of voting age needs to look into this seriously and decide for themselves and then let their elected representatives in Washington DC what they think and they need to do it right now without delay.

Please I beg of you tell anyone and everyone you know to check this situation out and let your representative in congress in Washington DC know right away one way or another what you think about this very important development. We don't have the time to wait this needs to be addressed right away or it will take effect within the next month.
