Sockeye Homes

Sockeye Homes has earned an impressive array of awards over the last three years: two in 2009, 11 in 2010, and 12 in 2011. Sockeye Homes' most recent awards came from the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties of Washington and the Remodelers Council. Two of the awards were for "Major Remodel Excellence" and one was for "Green Remodeling." Sockeye Homes was selected out of 39 companies for these awards by a judging panel, which included architects, remodelers, and media experts.

Sockeye Homes specializes in providing economical custom construction solutions for clients. This is reflected in the names of many of their awards, such as "Bathroom Remodel Under $40,000 Western Region," "Outdoor Living Under $40,000," and "Kitchen Remodel $50,000-$75,000." The fact that Sockeye Homes is run by a husband-and-wife team, Tod and Kristin Sakai, helps to keep costs low. Their office is located in their own home, which was named the 2012 Northwest Idea House of the Year by 425 and South Sound Magazine. Mr. Sakai built this house so that clients seeking custom homes and remodeling now have a place to view the best and latest in building systems and green technology.

Additionally, Tod Sakai started Sockeye Homes after working for much larger construction companies, and the extensive experience and knowledge they acquired allow them to keep the staff to a minimum. Mr. Sakai was the general manager of Armstrong Lumber Co. for 13 years and received national recognition for the building system he designed. At Sockeye Homes, he does all the company's sales and estimating himself. As Tod Sakai sums it up, Sockeye Homes is "small enough to be agile but large enough to handle anything big."
