Dr. Steven Galper's medical experience stretches back four decades to his time in the United States Army, when he served as Medical Corpsman in Fort Lewis, Washington. While pursuing an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1975 to 1976, Dr. Galper held a Medical Assistant position with US Public Health Service Hospital. He began his formal medical studies at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson between the years 1994 and 1998, and he followed this with a six-year joint residency in neurology and psychiatry at the same institution.
Additionally, Dr. Steven Galper possesses extensive experience as an attorney in the Tucson area. From 1983 to 1997, he led the law firm Galper & Associates, PC, and from 1998 to 2006 he served as an of Counsel Attorney with Monroe & McDonough, PC. He completed his Juris Doctor with a specialization in Taxation at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in Tucson in 1982, building on his professional experience as Tax Analyst with General Motors in Detroit and as Senior Tax Accountant with Ernst & Whitney in Tucson.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Steven Galper has spoken at numerous health conferences and seminars. In 2011, he delivered a presentation on fibromyalgia pain management at the Tenth Annual Women's Mental Health Symposium, sponsored by the University of Arizona Center of Excellence in Women's Health. He has also spoken on chronic pain management at the University of Arizona College of Medicine's Nineteenth Annual Psychopharmacology Review. Steven Galper, MD, maintains affiliation with a number of Tucson area hospitals, including University Physicians Healthcare Hospital and Cornerstone Hospital of Southeast Arizona.
