In my community in Alaska, I enjoy several personal activities like reading political novels, traveling around the state, camping, and playing golf. The game of golf involves a certain level of concentration and experience, skills that, when combined, build a master player. Perhaps one of the most difficult activities for a golfer is perfecting his swing, as there are several issues involved. When striving to improve their golf swing, players must visualize the correct movement; understand where to position their hands, arms, wrist, and body; and pay attention to several other variables. Below, I have compiled a short list of tips for those golfers who have some level of experience but are not yet at an expert level, and who wish to understand some of the most important things that affect a player's golf swing.
1. Think about where your hands and forearms are when the club hits the ball. The forearms should be as close together as possible, and the hands should be positioned and rotated for an optimal swing.

2. Pause at the top of your swing. When a player gives a slight pause at the top of the backswing before the club changes direction, he or she will be able to add more power and acceleration to the swing.

3. Pay attention to your knees when lining up a shot. Imagine that you are holding a basketball between your knees; this will solidify your stance and help your shoulders and hips stay in the correct position.

4. Use your muscles. In order to hit the ball down the fairway, golfers must learn how to use the muscles in their core, legs, and trunk, not just the arms and shoulders.

5. Swing through the ball. When a golf player extends his swing after he has hit the ball, the shot is usually more powerful. One practice method that will help players master this tip is to put a tee about eight inches in front of the golf ball. When swinging, try to hit the ball and the tee in front of it.
