At first search engines were the main Web research or online research tools. Later different directories, online encylopedia, links were added as Web research inforamtion sources.

A few years ago a number of Web research tools have been developed. The main tools are Evernote, Onfolio (only for IE browser), Scrapbook, Zotero.

More simple tools are Google Note, Keynote and other.

But now we must analyze a system of different tools for carrying on Web research tools, e.g.

- search engines including natural language search

- Google Alert and Google mail

- keywords suggstion for queries

- text and content analysis tools

- RSS

- Web research (online research, e-research, internet research or Web clipping) tools

- reporting tools

- reference tools (reference an be generated by somne Web research tools)

- online tranlsation tools and other.

Recently I have read very interesting report "Semantic Wave 2008 Report:Industry Roadmap to Web 3.0 & Multibillion Dollar market Opportunities". http://project10x.com/prods/uypdeh/exsum_sw2008.pdf

One of ideas is that a new Web 3.0 or Semantic Web we must create on the exisiting Web.

As a few years ago I developed and used Personal Knowledge System using different metadata I understand how diffiuclt is to enrich existing Web information.

Now some people think that tagsonomy (adding fo tags) can solve the problem . But I think that we need not only add tags but automatically or semi-automatically create an ontology.

Typically our goal is not only to publish information but later easy to find it.

Therfore i am intersted in Semantic Web, ontologies, taxonomies, tagsonomies, folksonomies, glossaries, vocabularies, Natural langauge Search and Web research tools,

The fine example anout understanding of terms is Web research terms that has a lot of synbonims:

web-based research
online research
internet research
research in the internet
e-research
web clipping

Therefore now it is not so simple to find info taht you are interested. At first you must have list of terms and later list of related terms as well.

I am working as a distance learning lecturer in Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (I am busy only a few Saturdays during a year).

Therfore I spend almost all my time analyzing new Web tools and possibiliities to use them both by students, by lectureres and by business.

Now I am participating as a free tester of some main applications:

I am interested in semantic technology application design and testing, inluding ontology developemnet (I have an experience to use Protege), in design personal and public knowledge systems (Ihave developed and used personal knowledge system on my PC), in testing and design of Web research tools (you can find some info on my blog http://zigmasb.wordpress.com, in testing blogs as reseearch tools, in new project management models design ( I have manged developed of project management tool on the basis of Petri net), in creativity tools, in FULL cycle (or chain) from state-of-the-art analysis, to problem identification, to web research to idea generation to alternatives evaluation to decision making to problem solutions and to design new product or service.
