La 9ème édition de la conférence internationale "Law via the Internet", se tiendra les 30 et 31 octobre 2008 à Florence (Italie), organisée par l'ITTIG-CNR.
The Institute of Legal Information Theory and Techniques of the Italian National Research Council (ITTIGCNR) is organising the IX International Conference “Law Via The Internet”.
The Conference deals with issues of free access to legal information and annually gathers the network of Legal Information Institutes (LIIs). The Florence Conference is to be set in the context of the evolution of the use of information and data transmission-technologies in the legal field and intends to focus on digital legal information, analyzing its aspects in the light of the idea of freedom of digital legal culture and of the technological progress that is shaping law. Within this interaction of technological progress and law, free access to information is only the first, but fundamental step.
Quality is necessarily connected to the topic of access to information, since it ensures that the information is complete, reliable and clear.
Therefore, the full knowledge of quality legal information makes it possible to citizens to exercise in a conscious and effective way the rights and safeguarding rules set by the judicial system. In this way, the use of new technologies becomes an irreplaceable tool of democracy for the citizen of the e-society.
The past editions of the Conference have been held in Montreal, Vanuatu, Paris, Sydney and attended by hundreds of scientists, experts and public officers coming from five continents.
