Simultaneously, Alissa Ohashi works on completing her bachelor's degree at The Ohio State University. Her education includes courses in Communication Research Methods, Persuasion Theory, Public Communication, Advertising, and Strategic Communication Principles. She plans to complete her degree in June of 2012.
In addition to her studies, Alissa Ohashi has pursued various extracurricular opportunities for building her skills in media communication. She spent the summer of 2011 as a Public Relations Practitioner for the team from the Center for Automotive Research at The Ohio State University who designed the battery-powered vehicle, the Buckeye Bullet. That fall, she became an intern and Street Team Member for The CW Columbus, working in promotion and advertising through social networking media sites, writing press releases, creating a commercial, and planning local events. Prior to this, Alissa Ohashi worked with DBC America for more than six years as the company's Manager, Promotional Model, and Brand Ambassador.
Alissa Ohashi also finds time to contribute to her local community. She has coached basketball and taught ESL (English as a Second Language) for the Columbus Literary Council. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball herself, traveling, composing music, and writing fiction and poetry. Her publication credits include an article in The Explorer on her experience as a reporter for a Cleveland Cavaliers game. She has also served as a model for several professional photographers.
