Prior to earning her doctorate at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Alli Antar received awards from the Lupus Foundation of America and the National Institutes of Health for her graduate studies on the mechanism of action of 11-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase Type 1 in various tissues, in the context of hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance, NAFLD, and obesity. As a postdoctoral fellow at Baylor College of Medicine, she received awards from the NIH for her studies on the contribution of adipocyte metabolism to obesity and whole-body insulin resistance. Dr. Antar continues to conduct research that focuses on the impact of various cell types on metabolism.
