When women have been victimized in their relationships, they're often ashamed. Why didn't I leave? Why did I let it happen? What did I do to make it happen? They may have so many destructive thoughts like this that they simply stop talking about the experience altogether. Explaining their feelings is just too painful. Ena Bacquie understands this behavior, but she hopes to encourage more women to speak out.

In a previous relationship, Ena Bacquie was a victim of abuse. She endured the abuse in silence, and then chose to take action and take back control of her life. It wasn't easy, Ena Bacquie says, but every bit of work was well worth it in the end. Ena Bacquie isn't ashamed to talk about her history, either. She knows that women may find her story inspiring, and talking about her experiences may help more women step forward.

Ena Bacquie believes that women should discuss their abuse, and make it known that the problem is common. If everyone chose to think about the issue, and talk about it, perhaps fewer women would struggle in the future. It's a goal worth fighting for, Ena Bacquie says, and she does her part every day.
