In addition to serving as an Attending Physician and Assistant Professor at Tufts Medical Center, a teaching hospital in Boston, Dr. Laura Baecher-Lind is an author of numerous articles or presentations on OB/GYN topics. Her most recent pilot study involved a collaborative effort of Tufts staff and medical students whose plan was to deliver regular cervical cancer screening to Haiti. Dr. Laura Baecher-Lind reviewed the results of this study at the New England Science Symposium in April of 2011 and is prepared to present this research at the 2011 annual meeting of the American Public Health Association in October.
Dr. Baecher-Lind also has produced a number of works relating to contraception over the years. These include papers and presentations on the practices and challenges that pediatricians face when counseling adolescents on birth control options and providing contraceptives to young people. Dr. Laura Baecher-Lind also studied emergency contraception issues, such as the effects of increased access to medication and its differential use by risk of unintended pregnancy.
Other seminars given by Dr. Laura Baecher-Lind involve various aspects of pregnancy, including two presentations at the 2011 annual meeting of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in February. In these lectures, Dr. Baecher-Lind examined the relationship between sexual intercourse and the development of preeclampsia, a potentially life-threatening complication, and the effect of sexual intercourse on pregnancy outcomes.
