A recent graduate of the PhD program in Teaching and Learning at the University of Utah, Matt Hollibush now works full time as an Assistant Professor at Mount Saint Mary College in the division of education. Matt Hollibush teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and his course responsibilities include Secondary Language Arts Methods and Secondary Literacy. Matthew Hollibush is especially interested in teacher education and best practices for traditionally underrepresented students, and he has written and presented on topics including “beating the odds” teachers, reciprocal teaching, and literature discussion group frameworks. Prior to assuming his current role, Matthew Hollibush gained substantial experience as a graduate instructor while pursuing his doctorate. Matt Hollibush was an instructor for four different courses, from Content Area Literacy Instruction at the graduate level to Instruction and Management in a Diverse Society. Before he received his PhD, Matt Hollibush was a literature teacher at Vallejo High School in California’s Vallejo City Unified School District, where he engaged in initiatives in reciprocal teaching of reading and writing and coached JV basketball. Matt Hollibush’s educational background includes time at California State University in Sacramento, where he earned his Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. Matt Hollibush attended the University of Nevada’s Reno campus for his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education; he majored in English Teaching and minored in History Teaching. Matthew Hollibush makes his home in New York with his wife, children, and miniature schnauzer. Matt enjoys motorcycles, hiking and fly fishing. Camping, movies, music, and more.
