Today we have made a full update of our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. It reflects more precisely the questions you regularly ask, and offers more complete and exhaustive answers. It now includes a search engine as well, so that you can more easily find the info you are looking for.

Our feedback form has also been reviewed, to better help you find the solutions you are looking for.

We noticed that you, our users, have taken a shine to the VideoWall since we released it almost a year ago. Some of you suggested it would be a great way to control a video player - and we couldn’t agree more.

This is why today we are happy to announce the release of VideoZap. Think of it as a lightweight, image-based remote control - a “zapper”, as they called remotes back in the day.

To create your VideoZap, visit the factory page and choose your settings in the grey panel on the right of the page. Select the list of videos you want - it could be featured videos, a user’s videos, even search results (just drop the desired URL into the correct field) -  decide where you want the remote to appear, how big it should be, and how the tiles are spaced. Click “Generate code”, copy the chunk of code that appears in the box above your VideoZap, and paste it wherever you want it to appear on your website or blog (keep in mind that the destination site must support iframes).

You will now have access to the subtitling interface while editing your video, which will give you the opportunity to create your own subtitles online and propose them in different languages. To do so, you just need to press pause, type your text and add it!

A new navigation is then created through the dynamic subtitles redirecting to other videos on Dailymotion.
This new functionality offers a great opportunity to open videos to the whole community whatever the language! Access the available subtitles by click on the menu tab on the player.

We’re big fans of personalization, so we are very happy to let you know that the skins of Dailymotion embed players are now fully customizable.

To check it out:

1. Go to a video page
2. Click “customize player…” just below the embed code below the video
3. Click the swatches to change the player color
4. Press “OK” to update the embeddable code
5. Now just copy and paste the code into your site!

Some examples:

Yesterday we released customizable embed players. Shortly afterwards we discovered a bug that caused all the embed players to play automatically. The problem was fixed immediately - sorry for the inconvenience.

If you embedded any players within the past 24 hours, and they continue to auto-play, please re-embed them to fix the issue.

The best content deserves the highest quality video, and it is in this spirit that Dailymotion has always sought to privilege its outstanding creative community with superior encoding.

For more than a year-and-a-half we have offered High-Quality video encoding, but with the rise of HD digital video cameras we have seen more and more Creative Content submitted in High Definition. This is why, from today on out, all HD video uploaded by MotionMakers and Official Users will be automatically re-encoded in 720p High Definition for playback on the site.

Anyone can watch videos in HD. To get the most out of Dailymotion’s HD, we recommend opening HD videos in full-screen mode or, even better, viewing the site on an HD-compatible screen. If your monitor is not big enough to enjoy HD, you can always connect your computer to your TV.

Word to the wise, however: HD is both bandwidth and processor intensive, so a 2 Mbps connection is advised (and dual-cores don’t hurt ;).

Along with this bit of news comes another: the beta player which you have been able to test for a number of weeks has been activated throughout the site. In addition to HD support, it includes such improvements as realtime seeking, in-player embed and email tools, and greater user control over the quality of the video being streamed.

For the power-users out there, we have also included some handy keyboard shortcuts (NB: these do not work in fullscreen mode):

Passons en revue les différents comics qui sortiront ce mois-ci dans vos librairies.

1^er février : Spider-Man 97 pour la suite de la saga Retour en Noir (Back in Black) et la quatrième partie de votre méga-poster Marvel 2008.

2 février : Ultimate Spider-Man 55. Rendez-vous pour le dénouement de la Saga du clone.Vous allez également pouvoir vous procurer le dernier Spidey (magazine jeunesse) le 6 février prochain avec en cadeau, une ceinture (jolie… mais pour enfant).

8 février : Spider-Man Hors Série 25 proposera trois histoires complètes avec, en guest, l’Homme Sable et la Chatte Noire.

À noter le retour, comme tous les ans depuis 2006, le retour des mega-poster en cinq parties. Cette fois C’est Gabrielle Dell-Otto qui s’y colle !

Comme promis, voici la dernière partie de Iron Man’s Adventure qui smash un max :

Marvel.com, et plus précisément la section “Kids”, a mis en ligne un petit film d’animation nommé Iron Man’s Adventure dans lequel apparait notre ami le Tisseur. Il s’agit d’un court métrage en trois fois 2 minutes réalisé par Blur Studio, déjà connu pour avoir fait les vidéos de Marvel Ultimate Alliance et Spider-Man : Friend or Foe pour Activision. Tout de suite, sans plus attendre, les deux premières parties :

Les vidéos sont en anglais (non sous-titrées) pour le moment.
Rendez-vous très bientôt pour ce qui devrait être la dernière partie !

We recently added an “Avatar Webcam Upload” function to the site, which lets you take a photo with your webcam and use it as your profile avatar.

All you have to do is:

• plug in your webcam
• strike a pose
• click “Shoot”, and
• click “Save” to publish your new avatar

You can access the new function by clicking the “my account” tab on the navigation bar within “my profile”, and then accessing the “Avatar” section from the account settings sidebar.

On vient d’apprendre que Phineas Mason, c’est à dire le Bricoleur, apparaitra dans The Spectacular Spider-Man. C’est pas grand chose, mais ca nous montre bien à quel point les responsables de cette nouvelle série animée on dans le désir de revenir aux sources.

En plus, KidsWB! a mis en ligne le petit extrait de l’article précédent un jour après ce qu’il avait prévu (on va pas leur en vouloir). C’est par ici !
