Carp Fishing in France

If you are interested in carp fishing in France, you are not alone, and the sport of carp fishing is quite a popular one. Carp tend to grow quite large, especially common carp and mirror carp, and they can be great fun to catch. Domesticated carp can grow to well over fifty pounds in size. Due to their size, they put up quite a fight, and they present a challenge for beginning and experienced anglers alike.

If you are up to the challenge of carp fishing in France, you should take a look at one of the best carp lakes that France has to offer-Etang de Planchon. This is a carp fishery with accommodations located in the Haute Vienne region of Limousin. The ten acre property features a lovely, well maintained four acre fishing lake. The lake features six swims (two of which are double swims) and an S-shaped island. In fact, the lake itself is so pretty that some guests spend more time taking photos than fishing.

The fishing is just as spectacular as the photos at Etang de Planchon. For example, during the last week of the current season four anglers caught nearly eighty fish altogether for a combined weight of just over 1700 pounds.

Another key feature of this lake is that there is a limit to the number of people who can fish at any one time. The rule at the lake is no more than five anglers (who can use three rods each) at one time. This is a great feature because it ensures that you will have a peaceful holiday, and that you will not have to worry about dealing with a crowded lake.

Accommodations and Holiday Packages

If you are interested in Etang de Planchon, they have three different holiday packages. The first, and least expensive, is the Drive and Survive Package. This is £260, and it includes a week’s worth of fishing. The All Inclusive Carp Fishing Holiday Package is £470, and it includes fishing tackle (except the end tackle), breakfast and dinner for the week , transportation to and from the Limoges airport, and a week’s worth of fishing. You can also hire the whole lake for £1200, which is a good option for people traveling in groups. The whole lake hire is for up to five anglers (who can use three rods a piece).

When you stay at the lake, you can choose to stay by the lakeside in a bivvy, and you can choose from the six available swims. Staying by the lake does have its advantages because you can fish throughout the night. If you would prefer, there is a gite on site that features a fully fitted kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and much more. The fees for the gite are very reasonable, though they change somewhat depending on the time of year.

If you are interested in carp fishing in France at one of the best carp fisheries in the country, you should contact Etang de Planchon today and start planning your 2012 holiday.
